Mickey Mouse

Whew, update. xP Sorry it took so long. I wanted to sort of clean this drawing up a bit before posting it online because my inking was horrible, so I casually started cleaning it up on Photoshop here and there... and ended up taking far too long. -.-;; Anyways, here's a Mickey Mouse comic strip that I made that plays a joke on... well, take a look and see. =P

I had always wondered about Mickey's ears since I was a child. I didn't realize until this semester that it was intentional. I also found out that most people never give Mickey's ears a second thought. Still have no idea what's wrong with Mickey's ears? Take a look at Mickey's ears when he's facing forward and when his face is turned sideways... it doesn't rotate like it should in a 3D world. I guess that's the magic of Disney. xP

And I know there are those of you who expected this update would be something else. Well, that's coming next week. I just wanted to get this out of the way first. =P

Haha, funny. Didn't expect you to make a comic about this. I remember you mentioning this in rigging class and how Disney still does the ear thing even for 3d mickey.
Inking is real nice btw, especially in the hands. But I think his left shoe could use more definition.

WOoW man!!! it's very cute and very funny when I saw it first time, I loved it right away. After time pass by and I saw it again and again and again..., it apparently couldn't make me laugh anymore... I don't know why... can you fix it?

...I'm one of them who expect something... more and more:)
Hahah
Take care:)

I think this is the third time I see it. Still makes me laugh. I wonder how can we biuld Micky in maya. His ear must need some hardcore riging. Maybe we can ask professor May. Anyway how is your summer? Doing a lot of art?

"...I don't know how..." Professor replied.

@ Willy: My summer's going fine. As for "doing art", I guess that depends on what you mean by that, but yes, surely I'm doing at least a little everyday. =P

@ May: Haha! Ah, but we forgive you since you're teaching modeling, not rigging. =)

I love it! And the inking looks great! This is a portfolio piece, Ki! Great demo of humor, intelligence, solid drawing, nice inking, staying on model, and a good understanding of what's OK for Disney audiences.

I've wondered about this phenomena for years. You mention that you didn't know until recently that it was intentional, but you don't mention why? Not being an artist of any kind, it's not obvious to me.

I was also equally surprised to see his ears exhibit the same behaviour on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the 3D animated series.
